Ndour struggles beyond U21 level as Como proves too much
The Fiorentina midfielder underwhelms in the defeat, unable to provide the defensive substance and pressing needed when Como's tempo rises.
Cher Ndour began well, threading an intriguing pass to Pedro Gonçalves who could only stumble before shooting. The issue emerged when the match intensified. Facing a different caliber than Poland's U21, mere leg-breaker football no longer suffices. What should be his primary contribution—physical presence, tactical substance, defensive positioning—crumbles alongside his teammates when Como's rhythm accelerates. The display closes with a glaring technical mistake, a mishit that neatly captures the midfielder's struggle to meet this level of competition.
Ndour's outing reveals a common truth among young talents: solid performances in youth national sides don't automatically guarantee continuity when opponents' absolute quality rises significantly. Athletic ability and technical flair remain intact, but tactical awareness and concentration were missing here. For serious player development, such transitions remain essential: the 2026 season still lies ahead, but the foundations are being laid now.
