Kouadio scores debut goal as Monza crushes Cagliari 4-0
Monza's defender nets his first Serie A goal against Cagliari, launching the Rossobianchi's biggest win in top-flight history. Just a month after earning Mancini's call-up, the 2006-born player continues his remarkable rise.
Eddy Kouadio opened Monza's 4-0 rout over Cagliari with a well-taken finish, sealing the Rossobianchi's biggest top-flight victory in their history. Deployed by Ivan Juric as a right-sided defender in a three-man line, the 2006-born player initiated a counterattack from his own half, accelerated down the flank and received a through ball from Dany Mota before slotting past Caprile. The goal came in the 40th minute at the Brianteo.
Kouadio's breakthrough strike completely shifted the match's momentum. Until that moment, the contest had remained goalless, with Cagliari creating clear opportunities while Monza struggled to break through. Once the young defender's counterattack opened the flood gates, the biancorossi took over, adding a second through Gustavo Varela just after the interval.
For Kouadio, the goal caps a remarkably swift progression. Roughly a month earlier, the Monza defender had received a call-up from Roberto Mancini for the senior national team—a recognition earned at just twenty years old following a trajectory that included his Serie A debut with Fiorentina in August 2025. Ivan Juric, who has afforded him regular playing time since his summer loan arrival, expressed satisfaction with his display: «I'm very pleased with Kouadio, a serious boy full of confidence, he performed very well today».
