Koite selected for U-15 World Cup: Atalanta in Azerbaijan
The Nerazzurri midfielder will represent Italy at the FIFA U-15 World Cup in Baku. The Italian youth team takes the field from October 24 in Group L.
Malick Koite, a midfielder for Atalanta, has been selected by head coach Enrico Battisti for the Italian U-15 national team competing in the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival in Baku. The player, captain of the Nerazzurri youth squad, is among the 14 convocations chosen to represent Italy in the global tournament.
The competition will feature an unconventional format, with 8-a-side matches on reduced fields and 40-minute total playing time per game. Italy has been placed in Group L alongside Benin, Cook Islands, Hong Kong, Qatar, and Turkmenistan. The debut is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at 8:15 a.m. at the Hovsan Competition Complex in Baku, facing Turkmenistan. The qualifying phase runs from October 24 to 26, while the subsequent phase is set for October 28 to 30.
Before departing for Azerbaijan, the Azzurrini will gather at the Novarello Villaggio Azzurro Sports Center in the province of Novara, with three training sessions over two days. For Koite, this represents an opportunity to test himself against the best young talents from the international scene.
