Dottori breaks through: first goal in Serie C with Perugia
The 2006-born midfielder scores in Perugia's rout against Campobasso. For the Grifone academy product, it's the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
Christian Dottori found the net at his third league outing of the season. The midfielder, who came through Perugia's youth system, made the most of limited playing time by entering the match late (81') during the biancorossi's emphatic victory away at Campobasso. A goal that reflected the teenager's tactical awareness: his ability to attack space between the lines remains his key weapon.
After the final whistle, Dottori made no effort to hide the weight of the moment. "It's an enormous emotion," he stated. "I grew up through Perugia's academy and wearing this shirt has always meant something extraordinary to me. Scoring with the first team was a personal goal for this season, after few opportunities last year." On the build-up, the 2006-born player explained he had spotted gaps in the opposition defence before his substitute appearance, then attacked the right moment when the ball was played into wide areas.
He remains clear-eyed about the work still required. "I've had limited space so far," he continued, "but the coach supports me in training and so do my more experienced teammates. I know there's still plenty to improve on, and I want to keep working to be ready whenever I'm called upon again."
