Comuzzo and Kouadio among Europe's elite U22 defenders
The CIES Football Observatory ranks the two Fiorentina talents among Europe's top five U22 central defenders for ground marking performance. Comuzzo at Torino and Kouadio at Monza confirm the value of their development away from Florence.
The CIES Football Observatory has compiled a ranking of Europe's best U22 central defenders based on ground marking performance, examining players from 32 top European leagues with at least 360 minutes of play this season. Two Fiorentina prospects feature prominently: Pietro Comuzzo, currently on loan at Torino, and Eddy Kouadio, temporarily with Monza.
Comuzzo ranks second with an index of 1.80, level with Massiré Sylla of Union. Only Jérémy Jacquet of Liverpool stands ahead, occupying first place at 1.82. Kouadio finishes fifth with 1.73, matching Matteo Kitz of Wolfsberger, while Noahkai Banks of Augsburg takes fourth with 1.76. The top ten is rounded out by Juan Rodríguez of Cagliari and Yannick Bettkober of Grasshopper (1.72), alongside Dean Huijsen of Real Madrid and Stefan Gudelj of Stella Rossa (1.71).
The figures validate Fiorentina's youth development system. As the Florence club struggles to establish defensive solidity early in the campaign, both prospects are delivering performances among Europe's finest through their respective loan moves.
